Summer homeschool ideas

I am currently in my 3rd year of homeschooling and I wanted to share what I did the past two summers.

I knew I wanted to do some form of “learning” for my kids, mainly to keep learning about God at the focus.

I will first share what I did for the summer of 2022. This was the summer leading into our first year homeschooling.

I learned a lot that summer. There were things my kids enjoyed and things not so much.

And I know every year I will continue to learn and change things up. Thanks goodness God is helping me to direct my steps.

Here are the resources mentioned:

  • Simple Studies – Seashore animals unit study by Crystal Wiley

  • Shark Unit study – by Stephanie Hathaway Designs

  • Beach Unit study – by Stephanie Hathaway Designs

  • More than Words from Master Books

  • God created the Sea Life of the World from Master Books

  • Ocean anatomy by Julia Rothman

  • The Burgess Seashore book for children by Thornton W. Burgess

  • The Ology by Marty Machowski  - great book

  • The Awesome Book of Bible Answers for kids by Josh McDowell - we did this most days

The books mention on our Amazon page here (Affiliate link- some of my actual favorites things that we use! Thanks for using my link and supporting me. I truly appreciate it. As I make a small commission.)

Okay now onto our second summer of homeschool.

I learned from our first summer homeschool to keep things more simple, so I did.

Our main focus was the Foundation Worldview course and PRAYER.

I was excited to have my kids just focus on God, prayer and learning truth over the summer.

On Instragram (@loriandmichelle) I shared glimpses of our days.

It is a great course for young kids. Michelle and I have no affiliation with this course, we just respect Elizabeth’s work and want others to know about it.

Make sure you check our Elizabeth’s work over on Foundation Worldview. She also has a podcast, that is great. I am little behind in my podcasts, something I hope to get caught up.

Other resources mentioned:

A book of prayers for children

  • Any time, Any Place, Any Prayer

  • What Every Child Should Know About Prayer

  • The Barber Who Wanted to Pray

We also kept up with the read-aloud books I mentioned.

CHECK OUT OUR AMAZON storefront to see more books and things (if you use our link we may receive a small commission. Thank you for your support of our channel.)

And our summer last year, we did another course from Foundation Worldview - the Comparative World view course.

Other things we did over last summer:

  • did the Bible recap book for kids - keeping up with God’s Word is a must over here

  • I got us all how to draw books and notepads - all things linked in our Amazon store

  • Brave books and other real alouds, plus the kids keep up with individual reading

And I prepped for year 3 of homeschooling - those posts to come.
